Eroded Stacks
2019-20
About the Work
Eroded Stacks are composed of fiber reinforced cast cement that is pigmented, stained, and sealed to evoke the organic qualities of stone and tree surfaces. Their irregular, vertical forms and coarse surface textures are formed by loose stacking wood sections into large tree trunk shaped molds. These mold forms temporarily contain, guide and at times remain open to permit the flow of the poured cement into planned and unexpected forms.
About the Artist
My work investigates the interrelated trace of human presence and of natural phenomena. Process driven projects mimic and distort both physical and symbolic transformations of structured order onto environmental forms. Individual works and thematic groupings seek to instigate dialogue through evocative material surface juxtapositions, expressions of gravity and of corporal scales.
