Gravity Bending Light
2025
Gravity Bending Light explores the interplay between physical forces and perception, drawing inspiration from Einstein's theory of general relativity. The sculpture's form and material evoke the distortion of space-time caused by gravity, as described by Einstein. In general relativity, massive objects warp the fabric of space-time, bending the path of light—a phenomenon observed in gravitational lensing. When the morning or evening sun hits the sculpture, the light bounces all around brilliantly. My choice of aluminum, a lightweight yet rigid material, contrasts with the immense gravitational forces implied by the sculpture's concept.
